True Blood: Nothing But the Blood **spoilers**
Random thoughts:
-I loved the season 1 synopsis before the ep started.
-The show has definitely diverged from the plots in the books. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
-I’M SO GLAD THAT WASN’T LAFAYETTE IN THE CAR! [insert big ass sigh of relief]
But where the hell is he? That is one fucked up dudgeon place. He still has his spunk though. That’s ma boy, right there!
-I know that the actors that play Sookie and Bill, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, are dating in real life. I’ve read online that they don’t have chemistry on the show. But I disagree. They have LOTS of chemistry. Even before tonight’s super sexy strip down, before last season’s hymen- breaking episode and subsequent sexy bath.
It doesn’t hurt that I think Stephen Moyer plays the hell out of Bill Compton. LOVE HIM.
Things I am tired of already:
-Sookie screaming, shrieking and/or stomping away/around.
-The religious cult storyline. Tedious. **yawn**
-Maryann’s mysterious. Yeah, yeah, uh-huh. Got it.
-Sookie is shocked, SHOCKED that vampires are murderers! And manipulative as hell.
Things I predict will happen soon:
-Sookie will do something dumb. And blame Bill for it. He will mournfully accept the blame. She will shriek at him and stomp away.
-Eggs is going to do something fucked up to Tara. I don’t trust him. At all.
Things that surprised me:
-That Jason thinks his lie about the “Marlboro Baptist Church” won’t come back & bite him in the ass.
-That Sam thought Maryann would be satisfied with money. She wants blood, honey.
Things I liked:
-Bill used the word “slattern”. Hee!
-Drunk Andy trying to question people was HI-larious!
-That Uncle Bartlett’s death has consequences for several different characters.
-Sookie really snowed Jessica. Or did she……
-Eric, with his hair in highlighter foil, putting a real bite on the bigot from last season. Damn! This is HBO!
-I loved the Randy Travis song at the end.
Quotes:
“Ain’t I still right?” –Mrs. Thornton after finding out Miss Jeanette's dead (Please, somebody hug this woman!)
“Weren’t you the poor soul they were accusing of all those murders?” –Sarah Newlin to Jason (Awkward.)
“Baby boy, you aren’t the only one who’s special in this world.” –Maryann to teenage Sam
“I pray you not the last motherfucker I see ‘fore I die.” –Lafayette (Ha!)
Favorite exchanges:
“Well you ain’t gotta be drunk to bang my ass off, do ya?” [to Hoyt] How about you? [Hoyt hesitates] Never mind, time’s up. I don’t teach, I absorb.” –Barfly propositioning Jason
"I love you, and for that I shall never feel sorry." –Bill
"Damn you Bill Compton, I love you." –Sookie
As an ep, it was ‘aight’, but as a season opener, I felt it was a little flat. I know that some of it was the show getting old and new viewers alike all caught up with stories. Onward, I say!
And can I say one more time, I’M SO GLAD THAT WASN’T LAFAYETTE IN THE CAR!
A more sane review of the ep.
