Eric arrives to do his master's bidding on the eve of the Fellowship's lockdown, surprising a captive Sookie. Sam makes a gruesome discovery at Merlotte's that puts him in danger. Jessica and Hoyt find that with sex every time is the first time.

 

 

My two favorite characters on this show are Nelson Ellis’s Lafayette and Alexander Skarsgård’s Eric. Both of these actors bring it every episode. I love the way the two characters are being written and the performances are a wonder to watch.

Godric, Eric, Sookie & Bill: I really, really like Godric. And I like the colors he brings out in Eric’s character. How cool/awesome is it to see Eric deferring to someone else? His loyalty to his maker is breathtaking. Godric has made a bigger impression on me in the 2 episodes in which he spoke than some other characters than have been around for more than 10 episodes!

 

I thought it quite interesting that when Eric said Bill would kill every child in the church to save her that Sookie asked why Eric hadn’t done that. Interesting because why would Sookie think that Eric would kill for her? Hmmm. And then as soon as Bill freed her, Sookie ran up and took the silver chains off of Eric. Hmmm.

 

And Bill’s attempt to threaten Eric was laughable. I like me some Bill now, but he is not even in the same league with Eric. Eric’s delight at Bill “picking a fight” was delicious! And how tiny does Stephen Moyer look next to Alexander Skarsgård. Heh.

 

Jason & the Newlins: What’s the point of shooting Jason with a paintball gun? I was a little disappointed that Sarah wouldn’t even listen to Jason’s side, but I guess that’s to be expected. Ooo, she used the “f” word! Ha, ha!! I love how protective Jason is of Sookie. Awww! Rambo Jason! I love that Jason hit Steve right in the middle of his forehead with the paintball gun. Hee! Priceless.

 

Sam & Daphne: Poor Sam. Poor, poor Daphne! I actually liked her. It’s too bad that she and Sam couldn’t have been a “real” couple. Since he wouldn’t come to her, and she missed sacrificing him, I guess Maryann is going to frame Sam for Daphne’s murder.

 

Maryann, Tara & Eggs: Maryann is one nasty piece of work, huh? Cutting out people’s hearts and making soufflé with them? When Tara cut into the soufflé and it started bleeding, I thought for sure she would freak. Nope! I could barely watch the scene where she and Eggs started hitting each other.

 

Jessica & Hoyt: What a sweet, sweet couple. What a poignant, sad moment when Jessica realizes that she will be a virgin forever. She was simultaneously mortified, embarrassed and furious. Poor Hoyt was just figuring out how best to comfort her.

 

Lorena made quite an entrance….and then ruined it by acting like a high school sophomore. Good riddance! Actually, she and Bill may be the perfect, morose couple.

I love the flashbacks! It’s always good to see the pieces of the puzzle that makes Don Draper. I love the way the scenes were shot as well, with Don in his kitchen some how a part of the flashback.

 

That painting in Cooper’s office was atrocious. Sensuality, my ass. It’s a giant octopus going down on a woman. Does that really belong in a professional office? Ugh.

 

Why the hell would you fire someone and NOT escort them out. I cannot believe Burt Peterson was allowed to rage through the office like that. That poor secretary whose belongings got knocked on the floor.

 

It’s good to see Pete & Trudy getting along so well. Again, I worry that I won’t last. Especially since Pete seems to be pretty close to the same sniveling ass that he was last season. I’m glad he pulled his self together at the end. Trudy is right; no one wants to hear his outrage.

 

I love how Pete was all nervous and babbling when meeting with Pryce about the promotion and Cosgrove was all nonchalant and self-assured. Interesting. Even more interesting later on…..

 

It is ridiculous how even when he’s not even trying, Don is pulling women. Damn! The notable thing was, he didn’t really seem that interested. At any moment it seemed as if he might end the encounter all together.

 

Oh, my goodness! Sal!! Oh my goodness! Sal! The fucking bellboy (or whatever) is coming on to you!! How did he know??!! Oh my goodness! OhmygoodnessOhmygoodnessOhmygoodnessOhmygoodnessOhmygoodness!!!! It’s really happening for you!!

Don looked so visibly shocked and, I don’t know, dismayed? When he saw Sal & the bellboy together. I was really worried that Don was gonna be disgusted or upset with Sal. (Please don’t be a bigot, Don, I love you!) I did love Don’s little “oh, yeah, that’s right” look at Sal when Sal told their client that he was married.

 

Did Joan plan to set up John Hooker or was that a pleasant outcome? I love that Mr. Pryce told him that he had to sit out with all the women.

 

I love how everyone wandered into Don’s office for a drink. Even Bert Cooper.

 

Awww, poor Sally! Poor, daddy-loving, will-need-lots-of-therapy Sally! I knew Sally would find something when she started going through Don’s suitcase. I think Don was a little stunned by how quickly he smoothed things over. Yay, Betty gave Sally a little stuffed Eeyore when she was born!

I enjoyed the season premiere immensely. As always, there are so many layers to the seemingly simple stories shown here. I am happy that Don & Betty are still together and that Trudy & Pete seem much happier together. I don’t know if Roger is still with THAT PIECE OF SHIT, Jane, but he looks so damn SHARP in his suits. Go ‘head, John Slattery!  I am concerned for Joan. She is obviously still with Dr. Fuckface. What will happen to my girl?

Don Draper Gangsta Move of the Ep: I’m gonna go with Don subtly telling Sal to “limit his exposure”. I love that whole scene where Don says he wants to ask Sal something and he wants the truth. Poor Sal was so scared! Then Don starts talking about the account and never really asks Sal anything. “Limit your exposure.” But Sal hasn’t really had any exposure at all, has he?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sam finds himself in an unenviable predicament at the hands of Maryann and her minions. Bill is held captive by the stubborn Lorena. Jason attempts to sever his ties with the Fellowship of the Sun, but faces resistance from Steve and his enforcer Gabe.

This week’s episode was very good and answered several questions….and posed many more!

 

My sister & I having been watching the show together for the last few weeks and we both hollered at the end of the show and then again when the preview for next week was shown. It’s gonna be goooooooood!

 

Two storylines that have induced more eye rolls from me these past few weeks than anything else, REALLY heated up this week. First, Maryann’s true nature as a maenad was finally revealed. Daphne explained to Sam what Maryann is and why she follows her. Daphne also revealed why Maryann seems so interested in Sam. I felt sorry for Sam as he was really hurt by Daphne’s betrayal. But how stupid was he to pull a gun on Daphne?

 

Secondly, the Fellowship of the Sun storyline is crazier by the minute! Jason finally knocked boots with the preacher’s wife. She immediately tells Jason that they have to tell her husband what happened because they all took “honesty vows”. The look on Jason’s face was priceless! Even funnier is the two of them talking about putting “God first” as Sarah is slipping her panties back on. The more Sarah babbled on about telling Steve what happened and that she now knows what true love is, the more frightened Jason became. Poor Jason!

 

I am annoyed that Sookie waited so long before she “listened” in to the Newlins and Hugo. What’s the point of having the ability to read minds if you’re not going to use it? I would think under such dangerous circumstances, she would be tuning into everyone to “her” what’s going on with them.

 

I like Lorena with all her bad ass-ness. Even though I like Bill, it was cool seeing someone (other than Eric) get the best of him.

 

But watching Bill all angsty about killing humans and Lorena trying to draw him back into killing was boring. Been there, done that. It swallowed all her cool points. If she’s such a badass vamp, why is she mooning over one child? Can’t she "make" someone else?

 

All the cool points from Bill’s badass days that were shown last week are gone as well. There has to be a way that a vampire can be protective of humans without turning into a total wet blanket, right? Because I like Bill (and Stephen Moyer is awesome) but I cannot stand the way he has been castrated in the TV series. Sweet doesn’t have to equal sap.

 

Eric and Isabella’s conversation about human-vampire relationships was a nice little bookend to Sookie & Hugo conversation about the same thing.

 

Maryann all dirty carrying the dead carcass of a rabbit was pretty gross. Ewwww.

 

Hoyt’s seduction scene was so cute, with the blood-scented candles and “Bleeding Love” grooving in the background. Wait, “blood-scented candles”???
